--- New Story --- by: Joyce Dawson WATKINS I fell into Watkins by “accident” I guess. My husband retired from his job in 1988 and since then we have lived on pensions. I worked as Senior’s Counsellor for 15 years, helping senior’s fill out government forms etc. In general helping seniors with anything that concerned them. I received $150.00 a month for this. My job was very emotionally draining at times and I spent many, many hours researching what I needed to know. Over the years I became somewhat of an ‘expert’ and now am called on to speak to different organizations about seniors’ issues from time to time. This was the case when my daughter’s husband left her at age 55, leaving her with no income and no resources. Somewhere in the back of my mind I wondered if she could do something from home to help support herself, and Watkins came to mind. I remembered it from my childhood and wasn’t even sure if the company still existed. I went on the internet and typed “Watkins” and lo and behold, it sure did exist !!!! To make a long story short I signed up my daughter and thought maybe I could help her if I signed up too, and that is what I did. My daughter never sold a single item, but I fell in love with the products and before long had a bonus cheque for $19.00 and the light went on for me. This was extra money that came to me above the 25% I earned on each thing I sold and I got points besides. I tell you my life changed and I have never looked back. My last month’s bonus cheque was $496.00 in just a little over a year since I started. I have no idea where all I can go with this business, I am 74 years old, but I think our pensions are going to go a lot further than they used to. |
