2003 WIBC-Bill Porter Award
2003 WIBC-Bill Porter Award by: KEN & MIKI BOLEEN | | Manager Miki Boleen, Bill Porter Award Winner, with Canadian Operations Manager Dave Peters. | | Manager Miki Boleen was presented the Bill Porter Award at the International Awards Banquet in Vancouver, BC. In presenting the award, Watkins President Mark Jacobs praised Miki as one "who has truly demonstrated Bill Porter's persistence, integrity, and commitment to success throughout her entire life." While being physically challenged was not a prerequisite for this award, Miki has had many physical challenges in her life. After experiencing two bouts of polio before she was 14, she was told she could never pursue her dream of becoming a nurse, so she took that as a personal challenge and became one, fulfilling her desire to help others. Breast cancer at 42 didn't stop her, and when Post Polio Syndrome forced her into early retirement from nursing, she didn't retire, she started a new career with Watkins. Having broken both legs, she now walks with crutches, but has never used her injury as a crutch. As one nominator wrote, "She makes everyday the very best it can be by her attitude of sharing and caring." Another of her nominators said that Miki Boleen "is truly an extraordinary person who is an inspiration to anyone who knows her. She commits herself to any task put before her and is a great motivator, not only for her own group, but for all Watkins Associates, no matter who their upline is." | | Irwin and Mark Jacobs applaud Miki and Ken Boleen.
