Woodbury Figure Skating Club
Woodbury Figure Skating Club WFSC's Skating Club The Woodbury Figure Skating Club (WFSC) was officially formed in May 1999. WFSC became a United State Figure Skating (USFS) full club member in 2001. The group formed around skaters who used Woodbury's Bielenberg Arena and wanted to expand local skating options. Many skaters started then, and continue to skate today with the City's ISI Learn to Skate program. The Woodbury club hosts an ISI-sanctioned Fall competition, does numerous exhibitions and is a member of the Twin Cities Figure Skating Association (TCFSA). WFSC now has about 100 home club and associate members. Its individual members compete locally and regionally in both ISI and USFS sanctioned events. WFSC’s Ice Kicks Synchronized skating has been a part of WFSC’s offerings since 1989. WFSC boasts four synchronized skating lines at the Open Juvenile, Pre-Juvenile, Preliminary and Beginner levels. Some of the skaters on these lines have had six or more years of competitive synchronized skating experience. The skating year for Ice Kicks begins in May and runs through the end of April. Basic costs depend upon the number of skaters who ultimately sign up, the competitions the lines decide to participate in and the number of hours each week that each line practices. Certainly, more skaters per line lowers costs, while more competitions and ice time raises costs. During the year, we do fundraising to help skaters and their families with costs. Last year we collected trash at Woodbury Days, sold flowers at the Woodbury competition, sold Linder's gift certificates and Pampered Chef items. This year we add Watkins to our fundraising family! |
